To Galway metropolis from Shannon is most one 1/2 hours. Shouldn't be a trouble. Use this link for some help in planning distances, and add a piffling to their times to account for traffic/boring downs in driving thru little towns.

I'm presuming yous're flying to Galway city every bit opposed to somewhere like Connemara. It should take you about an hour and a one-half from Shannon Aerodrome.

Probably a chip under ii hours, one time you get your car and get accepted to the left (if not from the UK). Information technology's about 60 miles and the main road isn't bad, so you will likely make it in less. You exercise have to weedle through Ennis and there are things to run into if you deviate, and then those things tin can add together back to the time.

Shouldn't be much of a problem, but I would identify ii concerns. First, the morning traffic. You may desire to stop for breakfast/coffee and to relax before heading on your way. Secondly, become a proficient map of Galway and know where your heading. The beltway effectually the urban center has numerous circles and heavy traffic, so you want to know where your going RE: names of towns and direction.
Enjoy your trip, KShea

Hi there, we just got dorsum from Republic of ireland yesterday, and on our first day, drove from Shannon to Westport after an overnight flight. It really wasn't bad at all, we didn't start getting tired until around 130pm-200pm. The drive to Galway took usa right effectually an hour and a one-half, and Westport was well-nigh another hr and a half after that. It wasn't bad at all. Skillful luck!!

1.five hours to become to Galway, and what seemed like some other iv hours to find my hotel every bit I tried to figure out what I was doing. Serves me right for landing in Shannon, renting a automobile and driving on the left for the showtime time in my life without a navigator.
Merely you gotta dear the take a chance...

There's a wonderful baker in Gort, about i-tertiary to half-way to Galway where you tin can sit down and refresh with java and pastry. Also, at that place are 2 or 3 roads into Galway taking you to different sections of the city. Meliorate call your destination and ask which road to take.
As I recollect, the Merlin cutoff will accept yous past the docks close to the city middle. If you miss this, watch for city centre signs, only be prepared for heavy traffic.
